Women’s words inspire

These are some quotes that my partner shared with me recently. They are displayed in her classroom, where she teaches young women of color in Harlem.

“When I care to be powerful — to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” – Audre Lourde

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” – Eleanore Roosevelt

“And so our mothers and grandmothers have, more often than not anonymously, handed on the creative spark, the seed of the flower they themselves never hoped to see — or like a sealed letter they could
not plainly read” – Alice Walker

“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day I can hear her breathing” – Arundathi Roy
